22-05-15.- Logroño European City of Sport 2014 has generated an economic impact for the city of 44.52 million euros, a return rate of 27.95 program considering the specific public expenditure and all the subsidies granted to federations and events organizers clubs.
The data contained in the report prepared by the research group FREDA University of La Rioja (UR), which provides a comprehensive, objective and rigorous economic and social impact of sport Rioja's capital during 2014 vision.
The lady mayor of Logrono, Concepcion Gamarra, attended the presentation of the report, which detailed that in 2014, total spending on sport in the Rioja's capital rose to 102.74 million euros, of which 87% comes about, the private sector and 13% of the public sector.
Over the past year, due to the declaration of European City of Sport, they have developed 179 events, including 17 international, 48 national and 114 local; with the participation of 70,922 athletes, to which must be added more than 36,000 attendants and hundreds of thousands of spectators.
Sport accounts for 2.42% of gross value added of Logrono, representing 2.75% of GDP and 4.28% of the consumption of goods and services for families, it has detailed the City Council in a note, according with the data included in the report.
Also it notes that each public euro spent has generated a multiplier effect of 14.8, due to the direct, indirect and induced drag effects in other sectors.
