WELCOME TO ACES EUROPE
ACES EUROPE works with the European Commission, and above all on the initiatives presented in the "White Paper on Sport", thanks to the activation of the structured relationships with the most important European people practising a sport, through the collaboration with the EU Members States and through the promotion of relations in the field of sport. The Commission itself will support the future development of the initiative related to the European Capitals of Sport, which is the subject of ACES' activities. So the action point 50 of the White Paper recognizes ACES Europe, its activities and the award of European Capital of Sport.
World Capital of Sport is a new distinction designated by ACES Europe to promote sports at local government level via global communication according to the principles of responsibility and ethics, the awareness that sport is a factor of greater cohesion in society, improvement in the quality of life, physical and mental well-being and the complete integration within society of social classes that find themselves in difficult situations. ACES Europe will start to deliver this new award in 2006 and is in the process of receiving candidacies.
The criteria for the recognition of Sport Quality Certificate originate in the need to determine the quality of local sports management. In this context, various factors have been established in order to evaluate local management of sporting activities. ACES Europe will award one, two or three stars on the certificates depending on the quality of the facilities and management processes of each city.
The Euro Parlamentary Group Friends of ACES (EGFA) and Groupe Consultatif Européenne (GCE) are both informal groups of support for ACES Europe in the European Parliament which figure within ACES Europe's organizational chart. They are a constant support to ACES Europe in the European Parliament through the activities of its Members (MEPs). Through EGFA and GCE, ACES Europe has been able to earn more visibility in Brussels, as the project and awards which ACES Europe delivers each year are important for the members of both groups. Santiago Fisas is the president of EGFA and Ivan Catallin the president of GCE.
